Happy Birthday Whitney Houston (1963-2012): Gone but Not Forgotten

by Notorious Spinks on 08.09.2012

Like millions of others around the world, I was saddened to hear that Whitney Houston was dead.  When I heard the news I was at the New Edition concert right aside of Memphis where her ex-husband Bobby Brown struggled to the take the stage. Although the couple had a very unhealthy relationship, I believe that they really loved each other and under different circumstances they would have been perfect for each other.

It still makes me sad that someone with such great God-given talent is gone to soon.  I was especially sad that her daughter was losing her mother at such a young age.  I’m in my 30’s and it wasn’t easy burying my mom but I can’t imagine how I would have felt if I were only 18.  I still pray that Bobbi K. stays strong and I know Whitney is looking down on her baby.

Happy Birthday Diva!  You are gone but not forgotten!

We can never deny the mark that Whitney left on this world.  Her music is timeless has the ability to move people across many racial, cultural and social backgrounds.  As she was often deemed, “The Voice” had something that only God could give and only he could take away.

I can wait to see Sparkle the movie in theaters on August 17th and see Whitney in her last leading role…

What is your favorite Whitney Houston song?
