My beauty regimen can be described in one word, routine. I typically use the same products over and over. When I find something that works then I use it until it no longer works. I’m pretty anal about it too.
Over the last few years I’ve tried many products to perfect my routine. Most importantly I wanted to eliminate the unhealthy ingredients and I worked hard to keep it as natural as possible. I’m not quite where I want to be but I’m well on my way. Living a healthy life is not only about eating healthy but also about using healthy products on your body, so check out my list below.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil – I use EVOO daily and all over my body. I have kicked lotion to the curb and I only use it on my hands. Well that’s unless I want to get all fancy for an outing on the town then I make an exception. However, I also use it on my hair. This is the only thing I put on my hair except for shampoo and conditioner. Easy breezy.
- Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural for Women of Color – I found this shampoo by accident. I received a coupon for a free bottle and decided to try it. I’ve been hooked ever since. Even when I tried to go back to my old brand my hair was like, NO!
- Organic Argan & Raw Shea Butter Soap – I am in love with this soap! I first picked it up at Target and have been hooked ever since. They do sell other shea mixtures but I love this one. Please know that if you use white towels then the orange will create a stain. It’s worth it to me though.
- Burt’s Bees Sensitive Skin Facial Wash & Moisturizer – I received this product as apart of a Bzz Campaign. I was already a BB lip balm girl but hadn’t tried any other of their products. I am loving this. Currently I’m using it along with the Makari serum to help with my dark spots.
- Burt’s Bees Lip Balm – I used to be a Carmex girl until Burt and I met. I have about 20 tubes around the house in various spots. I suffer from dry lips and this keeps my lips pretty, smooth and kissable.
Well Spinkies, that’s my short-list of must-haves.
What’s on your list? How do you perfect your beauty regimen?

Came back to find the name of that soap — I keep meaning to get it at Target.
EVOO is a great tip!
I like the Burt Bees products too!
Love your tips! We are huge Burts Bees fans.
I love Burt’s Bee lip balm.
I love Burt’s Bees products.
I love Burt’s Bees lip balm!
I love Burts Bees products!
I have a perfumed conditioner that I LOVE, and various face lotions too, but I’m not really brand loyal because brands discontinue items too often.
Burt’s Bees fan here too. I love their lemon cuticle treatment.
I’ll have to check it out.
I’m on again off again with mine. I need to be more consistent.
I just started washing my face using olive oil and doing an exfoliation with sea salt. My skin is already clearer and brighter. I can’t live without my Beauty without Cause Body Lotion. This really has helped my skin issues.
Kelly please share about the olive oil for face washing.
Ok, I will
Hrmm. .. maybe a video. We’ll see.
I’m a huge fan of Burt’s Bees lip balm – my favorite is the honey!
I love Burt’s Bees lip balm too! It smells so good without being fake or strong like some other kinds.
I love Burt’s Bees lip balm!!
I love Burts Bees!! I use Bio-Oil for my moisturizer! I love the smell!
I use Burt’s Bees. I’m going to start using Argan oil instead of moisturizer.
Those are some great suggestions.
I am not much good at beauty routines but I’ve started getting my nails done regularly and I just bought some clarifying shampoo.
I’m only recently discovering my love of all things beauty so I’ve been trying everything.
I saw the pics you posted from beauty review party. Cool!
I use a bunch of different beauty products…and I am actually not faithful to any one in particular. I try new stuff all of the time!
After I find products I love, I stick to them too. I really like Burt’s Bees products!
I love the simple brand moisturizer. It’s my favorite face lotion.
Ooh, I love me some pantene, I love how soft it makes my hair feel after I wash it. I’ve never thought of putting EVOO on my hair, maybe I’ll add a little to my shampoo to see what happens. Great list by the way.
I am a big fan of Burts Bees too!!
Great list! I have mixed hair, and Pantene would never work for it. The only one that I like and is budget friendly are the Shea Moisture hair products that can be found at Walgreens or Target. I LOVE this brand!
I love Shea Moisture soap but never tried the hair products.
Thanks for the great tips and sharing your 5 must haves.
I love Tree Hut’s body scrub and lotion. But my number one must-have has to be Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar face moisturizer.
This is a very insightful post. I also love Burt Bees products and that Argan oil soap sounds yummy. lol
I use castor oil on my daughters’ bodies. I use all-natural soap for all of us, though I don’t have a partilcuar brand I use. Generally, I buy from moms on etsy.com or ebay.com. Now that I’m thinking about it…I need to go replenish my supply.
I never thought to look on etsy or ebay for soap. I’ll have to check them out.
I’m with ya on the lip balm, gotta have it!
I’ve never tried Burt’s Bees before, I don’t think. I use Carmex most of the time.
I used to love Carmex but the ingredients they put in it doesn’t allow it penetrate your lips like Burt’s Bees. I think I realized it was mineral oil or petroleum. Whichever one, neither of them penetrate your lips. It just sits on top.
I actually really love Burt’s Bees lip balm, so does my daughter!
burts all the way! LOVE that stuff
I love Burt’s Bees products! And have used EVOO on my skin many times.
I love Burt’s Bees lip balm. I used olive oil on my stomach this last pregnancy too and had no new stretch marks and the old ones didn’t even turn red again.
Great tip! I’ll have to remember that.
Love your basics. I need to pare down.
