Time to get Unjunked with #Unreal

by Notorious Spinks on 10.08.2012

This weekend our family had the opportunity to Unjunked with Unreal Candy.  We decided to put together a nice dinner at my BFF’s home and try out this new candy.

Candy without high fructose corn syrup

One of my biggest concerns when buying prepared food is the salt content and another is whether it contains high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).  Now in spite of what anyone says about moderation, I’m convinced that a decade from now we’ll see what HFCS is doing to our bodies.  But I’m not going to go into all that today…

Unreal is the new candy on the block that is free of HFCS, hydrogenated oils, GMOs, preservatives and all that other stuff that makes me go, EWE! My family and I were so glad to try out this new candy to see if it lived up to the hype.

Thanks to those fine gals at Global Influence and Unreal Candy we got a box of candy to eat until our little hearts were content.  We actually had five different candies to choose from.

There are the candy shells with and without peanuts that are comparable to M & M’s.  Then there is the chocolate caramel nougat that is compared to a Milky Way, the chocolate caramel peanuts nougat that is comparable to Snickers and chocolate peanut butter cups comparable to Reese’s.

After a dinner of baked tilapia, corn-on-the-cob, salad and garlic bread, we dug into the candy.  We wanted to know if Unjunked could live up to hype and compare to our beloved traditional candy.  The candy that we love to hate while loving every bite that we know is so unhealthy for us.

Baked Tilapia

First off we tried the candy shells and they didn’t go over to well.  As we ate them we were left with an after taste.  To me if tasted like too much dye was used or something…someone else suggested it may have been the chocolate.  I’m not sure but we didn’t care for those.

Next up we tried the chocolate caramel peanuts nougat and this one didn’t go over to well either.  Snickers is my favorite candy bar so I really wanted this one to work but the peanuts didn’t taste fresh.  I’m not sure if this is the intended taste.

Healthy Candy for Halloween

But then we had chocolate caramel nougat and it was the FAVORITE of everyone.  We all were trying grabbing these up for our goodie bags.

Last we had the peanut butter cups.  They were okay but I’m convinced that the chocolate caramel nougat will be what I use to satisfy my sweet tooth.

We had so much fun trying out Unreal and we look forward to seeing the other varieties they’ll add to their line.  This review was made possible by Unreal and Global Influence but it did not influence our views in any way.

Be sure to check your local grocer and retailers for your chance to get unjunked.  Head over to the website, Twitter, and Facebook   and learn more about the Unreal.

I’ll have to try the chocolate caramel nougat then. Sad that the peanut butter cups weren’t a winner. Love me some Reese’s!

HilLesha October 8, 2012 at 9:17 am

I’m honestly not a big fan of candy, but I will have it every now and then, so this sounds like something I may like if it isn’t too sweet. :)

Sheri October 8, 2012 at 8:58 am

Sounds like I need to try the nougat!
