Movie night in our house is like…is like…I can’t even describe it. We laugh, we cook, we eat, and laugh some more. It’s all about putting family first in a world full of noise. Not to mention that this week we decided to get Despicable (Me) with it.
Friday while TJ b.k.a. “The King” was at school, I decided to stop by Target (Tar’jay if you fancy) and pick up a new copy of Despicable Me on DVD for our family movie night because our old copy got scratched due to heavy rotation. Yes, TJ loves those little minions and I find myself laughing hysterically at the nonverbal chirping and squeaking…like what are you saying dude?
I wanted to keep our family movie night simple because I’m still getting over a cold, so I decided on pizza, wings, and Rotel. Who’s getting the best auntie in the world award? LOL!
Now I can be a little creative when I want to, so I wanted to make some minions for dessert. I’m no Betty Crocker around here so I was hunting for Twinkies or Twinkies’ look-a-likes. I couldn’t find any. So I settled for some Oreo Cakesters. I used raisins to make little faces.
I see you laughing but I have until summer to practice. Please know that I will have found or made some Twinkie-shaped cakes before Despicable Me 2 hits theaters. Yes, there will be a Despicable Me 2 and we’re ready. In the meantime I’m going to keep practicing my minion making skills along with some chirping and squeaking.
The holiday season is here and a family movie night with Despicable Me on DVD is a great way to wind down from the hustle and bustle of the season. You don’t have to go all out to make movie night special for the family, popcorn and juice will even do for the kiddos. The most important part is to enjoy each other. You can even practice your minion making skills and drop me a link to your creations. Who knows, we might even have a minion making contest…hint, hint!
After our movie and dinner, we broke out the video games. It was time to work off the pounds with a little Hip-Hop Dance. Of course, TJ thinks he’s the master dancer.
