Today we celebrate the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as a national holiday. It seems that every year on this day, I get sad. It really bothers me that I live in the city where he was killed. I know I wasn’t there, wasn’t even a thought in my mom’s mind, but I still get sad. I’m still amazed at how we allow hate, prejudice and racism to use us…But I digress.
We all have the ability to change the world, so let’s do it. Speak out and fight against racism, prejudice and hate of any kind. It’s only the right thing to do.
In other news…I was happy to see President Obama be sworn-in for the second time as POTUS. As bitter-sweet as it is, Rev. King died so that Barack could have this opportunity. It was an added bonus that POTUS was sworn-in using Dr. King’s Bible.

Happy Birthday to Mr. King!
I’m still having a hard time with the fact MLK was so young. I can’t stop thinking about how much more he could have done, had he been allowed to live. I voted for Obama both times and there isn’t a day that goes by that I regret my decision. He’s a great man!
