Fashion Talk: Pinterest Inspired Bedroom Decor with Books

by Notorious Spinks on 02.07.2013

I hate moving but I love decorating after the move.  However, I’m putting on my big girl panties and getting this show on the road.  I’ve finally decided that it’s time to leave my mom’ s house since the siblings don’t want to do right.  Life is too short and I have too much to look forward to than to argue over stuff…so I’m moving on.   Thinking about the move makes me sad sometimes because my mom worked so hard for her home but on the other hand I’m eager for a new beginning.

Since deciding to move, I’m definitely taking this opportunity to scale down.  I decided to stay with a friend until I decide when I’m moving to the DC area.  That means going from an eight room house to one bedroom.  Thank God, it’s a large bedroom, but I will have to get creative with my space and Pinterest has been heaven-sent.  I find so much inspiration for my DIY projects along with classic furniture inspired themes.

Bookcase headboard

Since my girlfriend already has a brand new bed, I’m going to use that.  However, the bed doesn’t have a head-board so I decided that I’m going to create the look above with bookshelves.  That way I can bring many of my books with me and add them in as decor.  Yes, I’m a book whore and I can’t leave them behind.  Not to mention my Oprah and Black Enterprise magazines.

Another plus for the bedroom is that it is a large open space so I can have a sitting area for guests as well.  I’m always inspired by classic furniture so I’m going to look for a divider to separate the two areas and devour Pinterest in search of the perfect look.

The more I think about my move, the more I get excited. However, it may just be the excitement of decorating…either way, I’m ready Boo!

What inspires you to decorate your favorite spot?  Is it Pinterest inspired?

I love pinterest!

I never would have thought to put bookshelves behind the bed. That’s cool!
