App Review: Joy Sprouts Free Apps for Preschoolers

by Notorious Spinks on 12.31.2014

Can you believe that New Year’s Eve is here? When the clock strikes midnight, we’ll officially welcome 2015. Definitely, a new day and new dawn. However, if you’re like me then you’re still giddy about Christmas. It came too soon and left too fast. I want it back. I want the smiles and laughter back. I want it all back, especially the ooo’s and ahh’s as Goo and Kay opened their gifts from Auntie ‘Londa.

No matter how many toys and dolls the girls get, I always get them something educational to play/learn with and a book or two. That’s important to me. I remember my mama would always say, “They can take everything away from except for your education.” That saying still echoes in my soul and I want to make sure my girls get a fair start. They deserve it. Their entitled to it.

I’m big on apps and recently had the opportunity to review Joy Sprouts. It is a new app on the market for iPad users created by educational professionals  to aid in your child’s development. Customized for preschoolers, ages 2-6, the app focuses on helping your child improve in 5 key areas:

  • Cognition and General Knowledge (Math, Science, and Social studies)
  • Language and Literacy
  • Learning Approaches
  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development and Health

According to the founders, their vision is

To empower parents to help their young children reach their full development by providing data driven educational technology that enables a better understanding of their child’s unique learning behavior across key developmental areas.

Additionally, they’ve already won awards:

  • Silicon Valley’s TiE50 Awards Winner, recognizing top startups internationally
  • Horizon Interactive Awards Gold Winner in Education
  • MobEx’s Best Mobile mCommerce Award

After playing around and exploring this new app, the girls are going to love it. When they come over, the first thing they do is confiscate my iPad while I work or while we watch cartoon. When they come over to pick-up the remainder of their Christmas toys, we’ll they’ll have a new game to play all while learning.

Head over to the app store and download the Joy Sprouts app today for your little one’s today. Right now it’s free but that won’t last long.
